Frequently Asked Questions
🌎 PLANNING YOUR TRIP & BOOKING
A hotel gives you a room. Vaaraway gives you a home, with space to spread out, a kitchen, private outdoor living, and room for everyone to be together without being on top of each other.
What sets us apart from the big listing platforms is that we’re not a marketplace. We’re a management company. Every home in our collection has been personally vetted, professionally photographed, and is supported by a real team you can reach directly. When you book with Vaaraway, you’re not hoping a stranger answers the phone, you’re working with hospitality professionals who have been doing this since 2008.
Our collection spans some of the most sought-after destinations in the country and beyond:
- Florida — Siesta Key, Sarasota, Lido Key, Longboat Key, Anna Maria Island, Holmes Beach, and Manasota Key
- California — Coachella Valley
- Texas — San Antonio
- Tennessee — Dale Hollow Lake
- Georgia — Blue Ridge
- Utah — Park City
- Costa Rica — Guanacaste / Hacienda Pinilla
We’re always growing.
It means we say no. Every home we represent is personally reviewed before it joins the collection, and we look at the things that make or break a stay: quality of furnishings, condition and upkeep, location, privacy, and whether the home genuinely delivers on what the photos promise. If a property doesn’t meet our standard, it doesn’t make the cut. That’s how we can confidently stand behind every home on our site.
Absolutely. Many of our destinations have multiple homes within a short walk or drive of one another, perfect for hosting/housing wedding parties in town, extended families, and corporate retreats. Rather than piecing it together yourself, call us at 877-520-2665. Our vacation planners know which properties pair well together and can coordinate arrival dates, capacity, and logistics across multiple homes in one conversation.
Cancellation terms are outlined in your rental agreement and can vary by property, destination, and season. You’ll see the full policy clearly presented. If your plans change, contact our reservations team as early as possible. The sooner we hear from you, the more options we typically have. We also strongly recommend travel insurance for protection against the unexpected.
Yes. We recommend travel protection on every reservation. It’s an inexpensive safeguard against trip interruptions, medical emergencies, and other circumstances that can arise between booking and arrival, and it offers real peace of mind when you’re traveling with family or booking months ahead.
The primary renter must be at least 26 years old and must be staying in the home for the duration of the reservation. This is a policy across our portfolio and helps us protect both our homeowners and the neighborhoods our guests are visiting. Valid ID is required.
Many are dog friendly! We know pets are family. Pet-friendly homes are clearly marked on our site and can be filtered in your search.
Because policies are set by each individual homeowner, specifics like pet size, breed, number of pets, and applicable pet fees vary by property. You’ll find the details on each listing page. Our main pet policy is acceptance of dogs 25 pounds or less. Please never bring a pet to a home that isn’t designated pet-friendly, it may result in additional charges or affect your stay.
Because we took them. Vaaraway invests in professional photography and video for every home we represent.. Our listings team reviews property descriptions, amenity lists, and bed configurations regularly to make sure what you see is what you get. If anything about your home doesn’t match what was represented, we want to hear about it immediately.
✈️ ARRIVAL & TRANSPORTATION
Standard check-in is 4:00 PM and standard check-out is 10:00 AM local time. Your confirmation and pre-arrival instructions will always list the exact times for your home.
These windows give our housekeeping and inspection teams the time they need to prepare the home properly. If you’d like to request an early check-in or late check-out, we’ll do our best to accommodate based on the arrival and departure schedule around your stay.
Most of our homes feature keyless entry with a personalized access code. You’ll receive complete arrival instructions: including directions, parking guidance, entry codes, and Wi-Fi details before your trip, so you can go straight from the airport to the front door without a detour to pick up keys.
A handful of properties, particularly within gated communities or resort settings, may require an additional check-in step. If that applies to your home, we’ll tell you well in advance.
It depends on your destination. A few of the most common:
- Siesta Key, Sarasota, Lido Key, Longboat Key, Anna Maria Island — Sarasota Bradenton International (SRQ), with Tampa International (TPA) about an hour north
- Coachella Valley — Palm Springs International (PSP)
- San Antonio — San Antonio International (SAT)
- Park City — Salt Lake City International (SLC)
- Blue Ridge, GA — Chattanooga (CHA) or Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL)
- Dale Hollow Lake — Nashville International (BNA)
- Guanacaste, Costa Rica — Daniel Oduber Quirós International (LIR) in Liberia
Your pre-arrival email will include specific driving directions from the nearest airport to your home.
In most destinations, yes, a car gives you the freedom to explore, and many of our homes are in residential or resort settings where that flexibility matters.
The exception is a handful of our beach properties, where you may be within walking distance of the sand, dining, and shopping. Guests in Siesta Key, for example, often park the car and use the free local trolley. Each listing page notes what’s within walking distance, and our team is always happy to advise before you book your flights.
🏡 DURING YOUR STAY
Every Vaaraway home is professionally cleaned and inspected between guests to a detailed, room-by-room standard, with particular attention to kitchens, bathrooms, high-touch surfaces, and fresh linens throughout. Homes are inspected after cleaning, not just cleaned, so issues are caught before you arrive rather than after.
Your home comes fully furnished and equipped for daily living, including:
- Fresh linens and bath towels for the full occupancy of the home
- A fully outfitted kitchen — cookware, dishes, glassware, utensils, and small appliances
- A starter supply of essentials: toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and trash bags
- Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi
- Washer and dryer in most homes
Many of our homes with private pools offer optional pool heating, some of the larger ones for an additional daily or weekly fee. Availability and pricing are listed on each property page.
A note worth knowing: pool heaters raise water temperature by a set number of degrees above the ambient air, so during an unusually cold snap the water may not reach your ideal temperature even with the heater running. If pool heating matters to your trip, request it at the time of booking so we can have it running before you arrive.
Tell us immediately. Our team is reachable throughout your stay, and every home has local support in place for maintenance and service needs.
Whether it’s an appliance that won’t cooperate, a question about the property, or a recommendation for dinner, reach out at 877-520-2665. Small problems handled quickly rarely become big ones, and we would always rather hear from you in the moment than discover it after you’ve gone home.
Some homes have exterior security cameras, always disclosed on the listing page and in your rental agreement. These are strictly limited to exterior areas and are there to protect the home and the surrounding neighborhood. There are never cameras or recording devices inside any Vaaraway home.
⛈️ WEATHER, SAFETY & PEACE OF MIND
We travel in beautiful places, and beautiful places occasionally have weather.
In the event of a mandatory evacuation order issued by local authorities for the area where your rental is located, we will work with you on your reservation, and travel insurance, purchased in advance, offers the strongest protection for weather-related trip disruption.
For general rain, wind, or a storm that doesn’t trigger an evacuation order, standard cancellation terms apply. Our team monitors conditions closely across all of our markets and will be in touch proactively if anything affects your stay.
Red Tide is a naturally occurring algae bloom that appears along Florida’s Gulf Coast from time to time. It’s unpredictable, can vary dramatically from beach to beach on the same day, and is entirely outside anyone’s control, so it isn’t grounds for cancellation or refund.
That said, If a bloom is present during your stay, reach out and we’ll point you toward the beaches and activities that are unaffected. In most cases, it’s a matter of driving a few miles up or down the coast.
Yes. Vaaraway operates as a professional, licensed vacation rental management company, and our homes are covered by appropriate insurance and comply with the licensing, registration, and tax requirements of the jurisdictions in which they operate. It’s one of the meaningful differences between booking with a professional management company and booking with an individual host.
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
Let’s talk. Our vacation planners know these homes and these destinations personally — not from a database. Whether you’re deciding between two properties, coordinating a multi-home reunion, or just want to know whether the beach is really that close, we’re here.
